# About Good for Bots

Last reviewed 24 September 2026.

Good for Bots is a website directory with public reports on crawler access and machine-readable content. Each scored site has a report explaining the findings and suggested fixes. We publish the rules behind every score.

## What Good for Bots does

Our crawler checks the homepage and up to three other pages, `robots.txt`, `llms.txt`, sitemaps, available Markdown and structured data. It records what it can read and any access barriers it encounters. The findings produce a score from 0 to 100 and a live badge the owner can embed.

The reports make up [the directory](https://goodforbots.com/directory), which grows one scan at a time: anyone can [check a public website](https://goodforbots.com/#scan), and a scan that ends with a score is listed. We do not fill the directory with scans of our own. [The report for stripe.com](https://goodforbots.com/r/stripe.com) is a real example.

The score measures access, not quality. It says nothing about how good a site’s content is, the business behind it or where it ranks in search, and a high score is no promise that an assistant will cite the site: [nobody can promise that](https://goodforbots.com/faq#will-i-be-cited).

## Why we built it

We think a growing share of what people do online will be done for them by AI: assistants that search and summarise, and agents that compare, book and buy on someone’s behalf. That only works if the web meets them halfway, with shared standards for what a site tells machines and the infrastructure to serve them. Most of those standards are young, some are still drafts, and it is hard for a site owner to know which ones matter and whether their own site gets them right.

The founder previously built the directories [SaaS Cubes](https://saascubes.com/) and [Mapa Oświatowa](https://mapaoswiatowa.pl/), implementing `llms.txt`, Markdown pages and structured data in both. Good for Bots grew from that work: a way to check those features on other sites and explain what needs fixing.

We also think websites will increasingly be built and changed with AI coding agents, so fixes on a report come in the form those agents take: [fix prompts](https://goodforbots.com/faq#fix-prompts), written instructions you paste into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, which fit the change to your stack.

## How we score

Every check starts with its specification. Before we write detection code, we read the normative source, whether an RFC, a W3C or IETF draft or a vendor’s own documentation, and never work from memory or someone else’s summary. [Standards and scoring](https://goodforbots.com/standards) publishes each check’s sources and their status, what it looks at and where it stops.

- **Public rules.** Achievements add points and barriers take them away. [How scoring works](https://goodforbots.com/standards#scoring) and [what can lower the score](https://goodforbots.com/standards#penalties) are published in full.
- **Tested before they count.** A new check runs at zero weight until we have tried it on real sites; when it starts to count, it counts for every listing at once. [Experimental checks](https://goodforbots.com/faq#experimental-checks) are marked as such.
- **Dated results.** Each report dates its scan and keeps the rules used for it, so an old score can always be explained.
- **A crawler that introduces itself.** [GoodForBotsBot](https://goodforbots.com/bot) names itself on every request, respects `robots.txt` and keeps each scoring attempt to 32 fetches and five minutes.
- **Models describe, rules score.** Google’s Gemini writes the description of each site from what our crawler received, and the report labels it as AI-written. It never judges a site: the score comes from the published rules alone.

## What we promise

- **The score is never for sale.** Paying does not add points, improve a band, hide a score or remove a listing. Free and paid listings are scored by the same rules.
- **Removing a listing is free and unconditional.** No payment, no reason and no account: [request removal](https://goodforbots.com/remove).
- **Our crawler follows your rules.** A `robots.txt` refusal means no score and no listing, and [our bot page](https://goodforbots.com/bot#controls) shows how to allow, slow down or stop it.
- **Owners do not write their own description.** The description on a report is written from the scan and is the same on every plan; an owner’s own words would be advertising.
- **We pass our own scan.** This site is held to the checks it runs on others: pages rendered on the server, [a Markdown version of this page](https://goodforbots.com/about.md), [/llms.txt](https://goodforbots.com/llms.txt) and schema.org structured data on every page.

The first three are also [commitments in our terms](https://goodforbots.com/terms#commitments).

## How Good for Bots makes money

Checking a site, its score, its public report and the live badge are free and need no account. The business is paid for by two optional purchases: **Pro**, which adds tools around a listing, and **Featured**, a paid place on the home page. [The pricing page](https://goodforbots.com/pricing) lists what each includes.

Neither buys a point, a better band or a higher place in the directory. A Pro label changes how a listing looks, never its score or its position, and [Featured](https://goodforbots.com/featured) buys visibility, not a score.

## Who’s behind it

Good for Bots was founded by Mateusz Pawlica and is built in Tychy, Poland.

### Mateusz Pawlica

*Founder of Good for Bots*

Mateusz has been building digital products since 2014 — games and mobile apps first, then websites, directories and AI automations for businesses. He runs [Pawlica Web & AI](https://pawlicaweb.pl) in Tychy, Poland.

Before Good for Bots he built two directories of his own, SaaS Cubes and Mapa Oświatowa, where llms.txt files, Markdown versions of pages and structured data are part of the everyday work rather than a checklist.

Also built:

- [SaaS Cubes](https://saascubes.com): A directory of SaaS products with editorial listings, llms.txt and llms-full.txt.
- [Mapa Oświatowa](https://mapaoswiatowa.pl): An interactive map of schools, kindergartens and nurseries in Poland, with Markdown versions of its pages for AI agents.

## Corrections and contact

If a report gets your site wrong, tell us. We never change a score by hand: when a check misreads a site, we fix the check, and the fix applies to every listing alike. Once your site itself has changed, a claimed listing can be [rescanned](https://goodforbots.com/faq#rescan).

Write through [the contact form](https://goodforbots.com/contact) or to [support@goodforbots.com](mailto:support@goodforbots.com), and include the website address if it is about a listing. Problems with our crawler’s traffic are covered on [the bot page](https://goodforbots.com/bot#contact).

## See what a bot sees

[Check your site for free](https://goodforbots.com/#scan): one scan shows what language models and agents can read on it, and what to fix.
